NYC - Day 3

Seinfeld Restaurant
Monday we got up and went to find the restaurant/diner used in the Seinfeld television series. John’s a big fan, so it was fun finding it.
IMG_5426When we were walking back to the subway after snapping a picture of Tom's Restaurant we stumbled upon the biggest cathedral either of us had ever seen. It was seriously MASSIVE and not nearly as crowded as St. Patrick's on 5th Ave. We spent a good while walking around inside and seeing all the ornate decorations. It was awesome and may have even been the highlight of our trip. From here on out we made it a point to stop and go into (if allowed) every church we stumbled on. They're all so different and beautiful; plus it gave us a chance to get out of the cold and sit for a bit.
The next stop was the Natural History Museum. John really wanted to go to the planetarium, which we did. I don’t think it was quite as good as either of us expected or wanted it to be though. It was kind of a tourist trap, but oh well. (tip: most all museums in NYC have "suggested" entrance fees, but you can actually pay whatever you want. In order to get tickets to the planetarium show we had to pay full price though.) We spent some time in the museum, but both of us aren't very good at them. They seriously suck the energy right out of me. Plus it was getting pretty packed and we were really hungry. So it was off to the Shake Shack for lunch. (completely blew the NHM and missed the Dino bones! Luckily I was able to see them on a return trip and strongly suggest you make sure and take some time to browse through the collection.)

After lunch we took a nice stroll through central park. It was very pretty and green from all the recent rain and unusually warm weather. Getting some time in nature and escaping the city streets was nice as well.

On our way back to the hotel we took a pit stop at the Plaza Hotel. Talk about nice! It was extremely fancy inside; totally old fashioned and swanky. We meandered through it for a bit poking our heads into different rooms. Then it was off to our daily afternoon naps.
I can't remember where we went for dinner that night, but I'm sure it was good. The restaurant was fairly close to Carnegie Hall and so we took a pit stop there and tried to get tickets to a concert, but it was sold out of course. So we just went to the hotel gym, had a nice workout, and chilled in our room for the rest of the night. Fine by me.
