Zion National Park - Day 2

The following morning was similar to the day before but with a smaller traffic jam at the park entrance, and an even better parking spot by the Visitor's Center before hopping on the park shuttle to make our way to stop 9, the Temple of Sinawava (aka the Narrows).
The Narrows is a "hike" (if you can call it that) through a narrow canyon partly filled with water. The water level varies from about 1-2 feet around this time of year and is fairly chilly, especially in the shade of the canyon. Once you get moving the cool water starts to feel pretty good though.

All 3 of us were a bit lacking in the footwear department though. Most people we saw hiking had rented nice boots and a walking stick. We were all in sandals; poor Shanny was basically in flip flops! Needless to say it lead to a lot of stubbed toes and close calls haha.

For the majority of the hike the place was pretty packed...

As we walked deeper into the canyon fellow hikers became a bit more sparse.

Eventually we had had our fill and decided to turn around.

All in all it was a great weekend, and so fun being able to share it with some of my sissies.

If you haven't noticed, we like to travel on a budget. Which usually means flying with just a carryon suitcase. This may seem daunting at first, but you'd be surprised what all you can fit in a small suitcase, especially if you pack it in right. I always roll my clothes up like pictured above, and try to wear my bulkiest clothes/shoes while in transit to conserve space. Anyways, this is what I brought on our 6 day trip to Washington, D.C.   3 pairs of shorts   6 shirts   A set of workout clothes   Toiletries, wallet, hat, shoes, sneakers, rain jacket, brush, straightener, headphones, and phone charger I hope this helps!

NYC - Day 3

Monday we got up and went to find the restaurant/diner used in the Seinfeld television series. John’s a big fan, so it was fun finding it.  When we were walking back to the subway after snapping a picture of Tom's Restaurant we stumbled upon the biggest cathedral either of us had ever seen. It was seriously MASSIVE and not nearly as crowded as St. Patrick's on 5th Ave. We spent a good while walking around inside and seeing all the ornate decorations. It was awesome and may have even been the highlight of our trip. From here on out we made it a point to stop and go into (if allowed) every church we stumbled on. They're all so different and beautiful; plus it gave us a chance to get out of the cold and sit for a bit. The next stop was the Natural History Museum. Capital Reef National Park - Day 1

October 28, 2018 While driving to Zion National Park a few weeks back my sister and I noticed a road sign for Capital Reef National Park. I'm embarrassed to say that neither of us had ever hear of that park. My interest was peaked and during some down time a bit later I decided to look it up. It didn't take long for me to decide it was a place I should definitely check out while I was in such close proximity, only living about 3 hours away from the park. A quick text conversation with my younger sister, Shannon, and it was decided. Her, her husband Alex, and I decided to meet up there for another weekend trip. We met up at a hotel just outside of the park and hopped in to one car to check out the park. This was our first glimpse.
